One of the worst punishments I ever had

The school from which I passed II class was not a heaven, but at least that was a civilized place in the national capital Delhi. Then papa got a posting deep in Firozpur in Punjab, and there the schol going experience turned hell. The school did not even had a proper building, and it used to run in tents. Different classrooms were partitioned by tin sheets, and one could easily keep an eye on whatever was happenning in the neighbouring classroom. Thus, punishments were even more embarassing, as more people could watch us doing that now. Further, teachers were really really bad, who relied very much on stick and punished us on very little mistakes. One of the worst punishments that I faced in my school years came just a few months after I started going to that school. I do not clearly remember that why we had to face such a punishment, but our social studies teacher was really furious. She made all of us murga and kept a brick on each of our's backs. As soon as the brick fell down to ground, we were in for receiving some tightest of slaps across our faces. Of course, everybody received that but girls received earlier than boys.

I could not keep the bricks on my back for more than 2 minutes. The teacher pulled up by my ear. It appeared to me that my ear would detach from my body, but it didn't. Holding that ear firmly in one of her hands, she slapped me from the other. I was not sure which part of body I had more pain- back or thighs or tummy or lower limbs or arms or my cheeks. But, I was in a bad shape. Turn by turn, everybody received slaps and after receiving the slaps we had to be murga again and punishment continued till the end of the period. When the punishment was finally over, most of us were weeping. But, I was more concerned with my reply that I would have to give to my mother when she would ask me that how my shirt got so much soiled.

Incidentally, son of that same teacher became my boy friend in later years!!!!
